The 2022 Outstanding Chicana/Latina Poderosas Mural Project will recognize 9 Chicana/Latina Poderosas, or “powerful women,” who have engaged in social justice and advocacy in the Sacramento Valley region.
The goal is to tell their stories, how they empowered the Latina/o/x communities and how they secured transformative, equitable, and accessible justice for all.
When young people ask “Am I good enough? Am I smart enough? Can I do this?” the women highlighted in this mural will inspire them to affirmatively answer, “YES”.
We want young people to “dance in the footsteps” of these powerful women who have conquered many barriers and have been on the frontlines of equity and social justice.
By first placing this mural in a local neighborhood center that serves many historically marginalized and under-resourced populations, we hope to inspire others to reach their fullest potential.
